3.3 V or 5.0 V Single power supply voltage  

The NT22L31 is a LASER driver IC capable of supplying up to 70 mA modulation current and 80 mA bias current. The NT22L31 is configured to drive common anode lasers and operate with either a +3.3 V or +5.0 V supply voltage and is packaged to be pin compatible with the MAX3646 Laser Driver.

The NT22L31 is designed to operate at data rates up to 1.25 Gbps into various loads including TO-can style laser packages through an open drain modulation output stage.

The NT22L31 features an automatic power control feedback loop for maintaining a constant transmitter output power over the specified operating temperature and supply voltage range. Temperature induced changes in laser slope efficiency are compensated for by a modulation current slope factor controlled by simple select-on-test resistors.

Laser safety features include a transmit disable function, Shutdown output to switch an external FET for laser supply control, a fault detector that will shutdown the transmit output if the APC loop fails in accordance with IEC 825 & CDRH eye safety requirements and the GBIC & SFP MSAs.
