Bristol, England, March 19th 2008 –
Nanotech Semiconductor Limited (“Nanotech”), a fabless IC company specializing in advanced Analog & Mixed-Signal ICs for fiber based Communications applications, today announced it had completed full qualification of its latest CMOS IC, the NT22L31.
The NT22L31 supports both 3.3 V and 5 V supplies, at 34 mA current consumption, and supports 80 mA Laser Bias and Modulation Currents to over 70 mA. Available in a 4 mm by 4 mm 24-pin QFN package, the NT22L31 is pin-compatible with previous products from Maxim and Micrel. However, being manufactured in standard CMOS, costs have been lowered, and manufacturing lead-times reduced by many weeks.
Support for all typical industry standards, SFF-8742 Digital Diagnostics, IEC Eye-Safety and GBIC and SFP MSAs are integrated.
Together with the NT20067 or NT20R67 TIA, and the NT20045 Limiting Amplifier, which also support both 3.3v and 5v supplies, this completes the full 3-chip set for 125/155Mbps applications, which is priced at under $1 in high volumes.

In addition, with the NT22L31 supporting 1.25 Gbit operation Nanotech will also be introducing significant cost reductions to higher speed applications.”
